The Julia Ideson Library: More than just a place to read

The Julia Ideson Library is a historic venue, named for the first head librarian for Houston Public Libraries, and served in that position for 40 years.

So far in the SwaLaRue Events venue tours, we’ve been here, here and here. But what if I told you that four walls equipped with tables and chairs weren’t the only places in Houston to get married.

What if I told you that you could even get married in a historic library in Downtown Houston? The Ideson Library fits the description here.

The pricing for this venue varies greatly depending on what type of event and how many of their multiple spaces you wish to use. They can actually explain it better than I can and have provided this detailed pricing chart.

How much time does this venue allow for set up?

At The Julia Ideson Library, they do allow for set up and the breakdown and if you will need additional time to set up for your event, additional time is available at an additional fee.

What I love about this venue:

The Julia Ideson Library has multiple spaces for multiple types of events. If you wanted to host a corporate function with a theme that requires a space for lecture, a space for cocktail reception and a space for seated dinner, all can be accomplished under one roof.

This space is also located in Downtown Houston. Home of the most popular bars and things to do for families, singles, and couples. Not to mention, as with most unique venues such as the Ideson, you can select your favorite caterer and furniture rentals for your event.

What’s included

This space provides the venue for a 6-hour rental and a custom package can be formulated for your specific needs. The pricing does not include some additional amenities you will need to account for such as: Catering, Audio/Visual, Additional Furniture or Setup, Security, or Parking/Valet.
