With all of the events I've had the pleasure of being a part of for over a decade...I have so many experiences to share with you! While here, you may find inspiration for your wedding day, corporate function or the things I like to get into when I'm not planning like a BOSS!
You got the ring, popped the bubbly, and now… wedding planning mode activated! You sit down to start making plans and suddenly find yourself buried in a sea of Pinterest boards, bridal magazines, and endless “helpful tips” from every friend, aunt, and second cousin twice removed.
If you’re feeling a bit like a deer in headlights, you’re not alone. But don’t worry—I’m here to spill the secrets to wedding planning that will keep you cool, confident, and (mostly) stress-free from engagement to “I do.”
Secret 1: Get Clear on Your Priorities Early On
Why It’s Key
When it comes to wedding planning, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking everything is a priority—until you find yourself stressing about which shade of napkin rings matches your tablecloths. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t matter that much.
The Fix
Sit down with your partner and make a list of the top 3-5 things that matter most to both of you. Maybe it’s a killer DJ, breathtaking venue, or mouth-watering menu. By keeping these priorities front and center, you’ll feel confident saying “yes” to what matters and “nah” to what doesn’t.
Secret 2: Budget Like a Boss (And Stick to It)
Why It’s Key
The “B-word”—budget—may not be your favorite topic, but it can be a game-changer for stress-free planning. Creating a realistic budget helps you know where to spend and where to save, which means fewer surprise costs that cause stress (and fights).
The Fix
Break your budget down by category (venue, catering, dress, etc.) and stick to it. And, don’t forget to add a small “just-in-case” fund for unexpected costs (because they will happen). This way, you won’t lose your cool when you fall in love with something slightly out of budget—you’ll know exactly how to adjust.
Secret 3: Take Time for Self-Care & Fun
Why It’s Key
Wedding planning shouldn’t consume your life! Remember that you’re planning a day that celebrates your love—so you don’t want to forget about actually having fun together before the big day.
The Fix
Set aside “no-wedding-talk” days where you and your partner do something completely unrelated to planning. Whether it’s date night, a Netflix binge, or a yoga class, taking regular breaks will keep you sane, happy, and even more excited for the big day.
Secret 4: Get the Right Help
Yes, you can plan a wedding by yourself, but why do it alone if you don’t have to? Whether it’s a wedding planner, a helpful family member, or your bridal party, getting extra help means less stress on your plate.
The Fix
Delegate! If you’re able, hire a planner to guide you through the process, or get friends and family involved in tasks like addressing invitations, planning the bachelorette party, or helping you with DIY decor. Don’t be afraid to ask for help—it’ll make a world of difference.
Secret 5: Expect the Unexpected (And Roll With It)
News flash: Nothing goes perfectly as planned. Whether it’s a change in the weather or a last-minute wardrobe malfunction, things will come up—but that doesn’t mean they have to ruin your day.
The Fix
Adopt the “let it go” mindset. If something unexpected happens, roll with it and stay focused on what’s important—marrying the love of your life! It’s the imperfections that often make the best stories (and most memorable moments).
